Moving, some thanks and a Snowman!

Snowman #5, 2012, Jo-Ann Sanborn
Acrylic on board, 7x5

Save the date!  You know you want one of this years special snowmen, and the only way to get the one you want is to be first in line at the 2nd Annual Snowman Extravaganza, November 23 2012. Mark your calendar.

Thanks to several of you who purchased paintings last week.  Your support, both new and established collectors, made me feel much more secure about the jump to the new studio.  I hope your paintings will bring you much joy.

Dear and magnificent friends, and a brother who by happy fortune had planned his vacation at just the right time, helped me move into the new studio over the weekend. Asking, (something HARD for me) and some pizza, was all it took for many hands to make the work, well, not really light, but so much easier,  Hugs and eternal appreciation to you if you were one of them! You made a hard job fun!

The new studio will be up and running in a few days, but there's a lot of work to do before I can let you in!  I'll keep you posted.

Art Thanks, Luncheon, Demo

These small, mixed media images will be used as a tiny thank you when someone buys a painting! They fit in an envelope, and can be used as mail art. I've often written thank you notes to collectors and enclosing a small original will be an extra step in showing my gratitude. The idea has been graciously shared by Linda Blondheim, another Florida artist who also loves the Florida Landscape. Thanks, Linda!

Two thank-you notes will go out this week, both to valued collectors who have purchased paintings of mine for their children. It's happened before, and I'm always thrilled! The idea that people want to share their love of art, they are teaching their children the value of original art, are willing to pay, and that the kids actually want it, is satisfying to me in just the best way!

I spoke about my art, the Everglades, and the Marco Island Arts community and did a brief demonstration at a luncheon held yesterday. I used a photo to block out a painting in a short time. It's a good start, and we'll see where it goes. I've promised to post it here upon completion!

Kathleen has been following my work for some time, and I was pleased to get to know her better at yesterday's luncheon. She was delighted when her name was drawn for the door prize! The whole thing was a lot of fun, and everyone enjoyed the food and the commraderie. Thanks, Ladies!

Thanksgiving, Pumpkin Daily painting by JoAnn Sanborn

Despite the gloomy economic outlook we have much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving week. The majority of us have jobs, roofs over our heads and haven't gone hungry, ever. For the most part we're safe in our homes, have medical care available, systems in place for those less fortunate, and a government that will try to help. Much of the world has so much less, so I'm going to appreciate and be very thankful for what I have.

Personally, I'm thankful for my art, and a place to do it. I'm thankful for a terrific growing family, good longtime and new friends, and a wonderful, supportive husband. I'm thankful for you who take the time to look at my paintings and to read this small blog. I'm thankful to the collectors who enjoy my work and purchase my paintings. I have so much to be grateful and thankful for. Thanks for being part of it!

Now, I'm off to make a pumpkin pie. Have a wonderful, thankful Thanksgiving!
